So much has happened since I last wrote. As I figured July flew by like a blur. From vacations to graduate parties, to wedding and deaths and now a new kitten. I have been busy. I am happy August is here so I can relax. Of course, it is half over already…
Vacation was fantastic! Crystal and I were busy every day. Beaches to Gardens. Kayaking to zip lining. And yes, I did zip line. Where I got the nerve to step off that tower four stories above the ground and slide to another tower I will never know. But I did it. Kayaking we only came across one alligator and he was on the shore. I was so proud of myself for kayaking since I am terrified of water. The best part was painting with the lemurs. You start painting and they release the lemurs. Having given us all food for them, they came right over, and you could feed them and pet them while they walked across your painting leaving little lemur footprints. My painting looked like something a kindergartener would do but I love it. Oh, and I got my nose pierced. I do not know what gets into me when I spend time together with Crystal, but I do these crazy things.
Back from vacation on Thursday and Saturday was my niece’s graduation party. There was a little rain but that did not dampen anyone’s spirits. It was a beautiful day for a beautiful young lady.
One week after that my son got married to the beautiful Maggie. The venue was outdoors with the reception in a gorgeous old barn. There were lots of speeches, Dad dressed in suit and tie and my mother/son dance. The whole Lanning family was in attendance, and we got a long-awaited picture of everyone. It was an incredible ceremony celebrating their marriage.
In between the celebrating we lost my cousin Joan and my Aunt Grace. So, some sadness and remembrance tossed in to balance the month. They will both be greatly missed. They were both wonderful ladies.
Now with the start of August, I adopted a foster kitten from Stray Haven. An orange tabby kitten. Tiny and full of energy. He has not met his new brothers and sister yet. Trying to break him in slowly. 180lb dog is a little scary to a 2lb kitten. Loki is so excited though. He keeps hanging out at the door to the bedroom I am keeping the kitten, Cheeto, in. Should be interesting when they meet for the first time.
Hopefully, I can get back into writing on a regular basis. At least for a few more months. I am not sure I will renew my website. If I do, I may try making some small quilts and stuff to sell and post them on the site. Squeeze that in with working two jobs, having a house full of animals. I am loving life. Live life to the fullest. Do what scares you, it is an amazing experience.
