So, I’m super excited! I booked a flight to Florida in July. I’m going down to stay with a very dear friend that I haven’t seen in years. I will be in Ft. McCoy which is about 2 hours north of Orlando. Quick drive to Daytona or Tampa. We are going to have a blast.
I booked a direct flight from Elmira to Tampa. It’s a two-and-a-half-hour flight. I’m so used to having layovers when I fly that this will be a nice change. Of course, with flying, I have to purchase a new carry on and the biggest purse I can find (to put my purse in of course).
Spent yesterday fretting over who will take care of the dog and cats. Who will drive me to and from the airport. Everyone kept saying we will figure it out but I’m one of these people that have to have everything planned out so it’s driving me crazy.
We are trying to figure out what to do while I’m down there. I’ve been looking at Silver Springs and others like it. You can kayak or get a glass bottom boat to float around in. Of course, I am terrified of water so this should be quite a feat for me. But, I want to do all of it. Conquer my fear and live life to the fullest. The last time she and I went on a boat ride… the boat motor went out and we had to flag someone down in the middle of Cayuga Lake and beg them for a tow. The guy had a bit too much to drink and ended up playing with my knee the whole trip back. All this while he towed my best friend back in the other boat. The things that happen to us when we are together worries me. Lol.
Then there was our trip to Connecticut. We stopped to gas up her RV and she locked the keys in it. I had to drive my car over so she could climb up on the car and slide through the driver side window. Backing away from the RV I hit the concrete barrier next to the pump and take out the headlight on my car. Anyways, does this tell you how I might be apprehensive. What could possibly go wrong with a glass bottom boat, horseback riding on the beach, or zip lining?
Oh, it’s all in good fun. Without times like that what would I have to talk about. If any of you are familiar with the Ft. McCoy area in Florida, what do you suggest doing? There is a Wizard of Oz museum that I must see. Dolphin research center and an elephant rescue. A zoo. All sound fantastic! I hope to see a manatee. No! I don’t want to swim with them.
Top off an eight-day vacation in Florida with my niece’s high school graduation party. And the following weekend, my son’s wedding, I have a very eventful July coming up and I can’t wait. Lots of memories to be made. Lots of living to do. Thanks for reading.
